Delhi: Many shops burnt to ashes in Chandni chowk market fire

A massive fire broke out at Delhi’s Chandni Chowk market early on Thursday. Fortunately, no casualties were reported.

The blaze started from a shop at the Lajpat Rai market opposite Red Fort, according to Delhi Fire Services.

“We received a call at around 4.45 am about the fire. The team rushed to the spot and 12 fire tenders were deployed. The fire spread to a few other shops which were gutted. Atul Garg, DFS chief, said,

It took about 3 hours later to put out the fire. A preliminary inquiry into the matter showed that around 80 cardboard boxes had caught fire in a shop following a short circuit.
