Cyclone Asani: boat overturns at sea; watch how fishermen reached Odisha shore

With heavy rainfall lashing India's east coast due to Cyclone Asani, a group of fishermen had a narrow escape in Odisha.

Their boat capsized amid violent waves near the coast. All the fishermen were able to make it safely back to shore. The incident occurred in Aryapalli near Chatrapur in Ganjam district.

On May 10 morning, as Cyclone Asani neared the coast, the Indian Meteorological Department said that the storm was weakening. The IMD said that the cyclone's speed had slowed down to 5 kmph on May 10, from 25 kmph a day earlier.

Asani lay centred around 300 km southeast of Kakinada in Andhra Pradesh and 510 km south-southwest of Gopalpur in Odisha. Odisha received a heavy rainfall warning from May 10 to 12.
