A stray dog was seen dragging a newborn in a government hospital in Karnataka's Shivamogga, an NDTV report said.

As per the report, the canine with a pre-mature baby was first spotted by the guard at Shivamogga district hospital. The animal was dragging the baby near the maternity ward. The unidentified newborn was already dead by the time it was rescued, it added.

So far, it is unclear if the child was killed by the dog bite or if the baby was already dead while being dragged.

Quoting Shivamogga District Medical Officer Rajesh Suragihalli, NDTV said that the child wasn't born or admitted to the district hospital as only 3 babies were born on the day of the incident.
