Flood Warning Issued for Krishna River at Vijayawada

Amaravati, Aug 28 (PTI): The Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (APSDMA) reported a significant rise in floodwaters in the Krishna river at the Prakasam Barrage in Vijayawada on Thursday. Inflows and outflows at the barrage have reached 3.62 lakh cusecs, according to Prakhar Jain, the managing director of APSDMA. By 10:45 am today, the intense floodwaters were recorded at 3.62 lakh cusecs, Jain stated. He mentioned that the first level warning could be issued before the afternoon due to the rising inflows. People residing along the riverbanks and riparian areas have been advised to take necessary precautions. Additionally, Jain cautioned those celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi, particularly about idol immersions, and advised avoiding crossing streams and canals.
