Amaravati, Aug 28 (PTI) Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (APSDMA) has reported a significant rise in floodwaters in the Krishna river at Prakasam Barrage, located in Vijayawada. Both the inflows and outflows at this barrage have been recorded at 3.62 lakh cusecs.
According to APSDMA Managing Director Prakhar Jain, floodwaters are surging intensely at the barrage, with inflows and outflows measured at 3.62 lakh cusecs as of 10:45 am.
Jain mentioned, "With the floodwater inflows intensifying in the Krishna river, particularly at Prakasam Barrage, a first-level warning might be issued by afternoon."
He has alerted residents along the riverbanks and riparian areas to adopt precautionary measures.
In addition, Jain cautioned those participating in the Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations, especially those immersing idols, and advised the public to avoid crossing streams and canals.
