Congratulations were extended to the Chengalpattu district administration and the Department of Environment, Climate Change and Forests.
Building on this achievement, Supriya Sahu, Additional Chief Secretary of the Department of Environment, Climate Change and Forests, announced that the state government aims to pursue global certification for ten other beaches in Tamil Nadu.
This ambitious plan includes four beaches in Chennai, two in Cuddalore, and one each in Villupuram, Nagapattinam, Ramanathapuram, and Tuticorin. Sahu remarked that the acknowledgment of Kovalam is the result of years of dedicated work to make it a clean, safe, inclusive, and sustainable beach.
"Thanks to the strong commitment of the government and collaboration with the local community," Sahu noted on social media.
