Kochi, August 29 (PTI): In a unique gathering, over 100 pairs of identical twins and several sets of triplets from across Kerala are set to converge for a special meet-up on August 31, organizers announced on Friday.

The event, hosted by the All Twins Association (ATA) and the All Kerala Twins Community (AKTC), will be held at the Ernakulam Town Hall. ATA secretary Viswas Vavolil, originating from Ranni, shared that the association started in 2018 as a social media community under the name AKTC and has now expanded to include more than 800 pairs of identical twins and triplets among its members.

"We organize various events to fortify our connections. This will be our third meeting since the inception of AKTC. Besides around 100 sets of twins, we anticipate participation from five sets of triplets," said Vavolil.

The group currently boasts membership of 800 twins, inclusive of 10 sets of triplets. "Counting individually, our group comprises over 1,500 individuals, with members ranging from 70-year-olds to young children."

Vavolil highlighted the diverse age group and mentioned that some members are stationed abroad. "Our group continuously grows as new members join after learning about our initiative," he said.

The group predominantly stays connected through social media platforms. "These meet-ups offer an excellent opportunity for our members to familiarize themselves with each other," Vavolil shared.

He added that many members are keen to meet other twins, and such gatherings not only strengthen bonds but also enhance planning for future group activities. "We also attend events like our members' weddings and offer support during emergencies. We keep connected via WhatsApp groups," he noted.

Notable attendees invited to the event include Ernakulam MP Hibi Eden, MLA T J Vinod, and filmmaker N M Badusha.

ATA plans to approach the state government, advocating for support for families with financial difficulties in raising twins or triplets. "These families often experience greater financial challenges, impacting the children's upbringing, education, and emotional development. We intend to request government aid for their education and employment," Viswas concluded.
