Kerala's flagship poverty mission flies high as 46 lakh women return to school

Kerala's flagship poverty alleviation mission, Kudumbashree, is going to fly high as 46 lakh women enrolled for this programme. The Kudumbashree began on October 1 and will take place will take till December 10. 

In the 'back to school' mission, women will be given classes on adapting to the digital age. 15,000 trained people will give classes to the women. The classes will include five topics and they are: organisational strength–lessons from experience, vibrancy of NHG, community–life security, livelihood ideas and digital age. 

The women who have enrolled for this programme will be attending classes for at least a day and by this, all the 46 lakh women will be able to attend the programme by the end of the initiative. 

What does the 'back to school' programme look like?

As the name suggests, it is all about going back to school and it has the usual assembly, class lunch and educational classes. The class begins at 9.30 am and concludes at 4.30 pm. 

Kerala Local Self Government Department Minister M B Rajesh talked about this programme and said that this time the target of the mission is not poverty alleviation, but enhancing the income of households.
