Bengaluru, June 19 (PTI): Heightened security measures were implemented at Kempegowda International Airport following a hoax bomb threat, according to police sources on Thursday.

Sources stated that an email, sent on Wednesday night under a terrorist's name, warned of two bombs planted at the airport. "Plan A" involved one bomb, while "Plan B" was a backup in case the first device failed.

The email further mentioned that an explosive device was supposedly placed inside a pipeline within the airport's toilet facilities.

Security forces conducted an exhaustive inspection of the premises. After thorough checks, officials confirmed the absence of any explosives and classified the threat as a hoax.

A case has been registered against the sender of the email addresses used to issue the threat, and an official investigation has been launched.
