Kaushambi, Uttar Pradesh: In a shocking incident, a 55-year-old man was found brutally murdered with a sharp-edged weapon near a canal bridge in Kaushambi district on Monday morning, police sources reported.

The deceased, identified as Chhotelal Gupta, was a resident of Katra village within the Karari police station jurisdiction. He had departed for Chitrakoot on a motorcycle with his nephew Rahul on Sunday night, officials stated.

Circle Officer Shivank Singh from Manjhanpur revealed that early Monday morning, locals discovered the body near the canal bridge in Sondhiya village and promptly informed the police. The body exhibited multiple wounds inflicted by a sharp-edged weapon.

The nephew, Rahul, is currently unaccounted for, and search operations are being conducted to locate him, authorities confirmed.

Superintendent of Police Rajesh Kumar, along with a forensic team, conducted an inspection at the crime scene.

"Following a complaint by the deceased's family, a case is being lodged. The body has been dispatched for a postmortem examination, and subsequent legal actions are progressing," informed Singh.
