Srinagar: Due to the persistent flood-like conditions caused by heavy rainfall in the Kashmir Valley, educational institutions across the region remain closed for the second consecutive day as of Thursday.

Anshul Garg, the Divisional Commissioner of Kashmir, announced the closure of all educational institutions, including schools, colleges, universities, and coaching centers, as a precautionary measure given the adverse weather conditions. This decision affects the entire Kashmir region and took effect on Thursday, September 4, 2025.

The closure followed a similar shutdown on Wednesday, prompted by continuous rainfall that has threatened to cause flooding in the valley. Although there has been some decrease in the water levels of the Jhelum River and its tributaries since Thursday morning, certain areas in the districts of Anantnag, Budgam, Kulgam, Pulwama, and Shopian have experienced water spillovers.

These developments have led to necessary precautions and efforts to manage potential flood threats in these affected areas.
