The Congress is yet to announce its chief minister for Karnataka even as there is just a day left for the scheduled oath-taking ceremony on May 18.

While prime candidate Siddaramaiah and his contender DK Shivakumar held one-on-one meetings with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, the decision remains pending.

The Indian Express quoting sources said that the high command, too, seems to be divided with Rahul Gandhi saying they should defer to the views of the MLAs.

On May 16, a closed-door meeting between Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi, followed by separate talks with the top two contenders bore no fruit.
