Bokaro, July 16 (PTI): On Wednesday morning, a fierce gun battle claimed the lives of two Maoists and a CRPF jawan in Jharkhand's Bokaro district, according to police reports.
The encounter erupted in the dense Birhordera forest within the Gomia police station jurisdiction at approximately 5:30 a.m., they said.
"The security forces successfully neutralized two Maoists during the operation. However, we also suffered the loss of a jawan from the CRPF's elite CoBRA battalion in the ensuing gunfire," stated Inspector General (Bokaro Zone) Kranthi Kumar Gadidesi in his communication with PTI.
Bokaro's Superintendent of Police, Harvinder Singh, informed PTI that a comprehensive search operation was being carried out in the vicinity following the confrontation.
Efforts are currently underway to identify the deceased Maoists, stated another police official.
