Thane, June 23 (PTI) – Authorities have filed a case against a jeweller accused of defrauding a gold ornaments supplier out of Rs 93.5 lakh in Maharashtra's Thane district, as reported by an official on Monday.
According to the official, the jeweller, who operates a shop in Khardi within the Shahapur area, acquired 950 grams of gold jewellery from the supplier over the past three years. Despite multiple reminders, the jeweller has not settled the amount of Rs 93.5 lakh owed for these purchases, the official from Bazarpeth police station in Kalyan stated. On Sunday, following a complaint from the victim, police registered a First Information Report (FIR) against the jeweller under sections 316(2) (criminal breach of trust) and 318(4) (cheating) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the official added.
