An Indian woman who was defrauded and sent to Bahrain, returned to India on 11 April 2023 after being rescued by Mumbai police.

The 23-year-old woman from Goa had been duped by two agents with the promise of a good job in Bahrain.

However, when she reached the middle east country in February, she was asked to work as a domestic help. The woman refused, and her employer registered a false case of theft against her, and took away her mobile phone.

The rescue was carried out by police, Indian embassy officials, and the Gulf-Maharashtra Business Forum.
