In a setback to India's investigative agencies, Interpol has removed fugitive diamantaire Mehul Choksi's name from its red notice based on a plea by him.

In its order, Interpol said there was a 'credible possibility' that Choksi's abduction from Antigua to Dominica had the ultimate purpose of deporting him to India where he might 'face the risk of not receiving a fair trial.'

Notably, Choksi, wanted in $2 billion PNB fraud case had alleged that he was abducted by Indian agents from Antigua and taken to Dominica in May, 2021.
