The IMD has issued a three-day orange alert for rainfall for almost the entirety of North India. The current spell of rainfall across states is due to Western disturbances.
The weather department has said rainfall is expected in Himachal Pradesh, Jammu-Kashmir, Delhi, Haryana, Uttarakhand and Punjab. A hailstorm is also expected to hit the states due to western disturbances, it added.
Meanwhile, in view of the weather, the Rudraprayag district administration has appealed to pilgrims coming to visit Kedarnath to stay where they are for the time being for their safety.
