A 35-year-old hostel warden was arrested in Hyderabad on Sunday after as many as seven students complained to the police against him alleging inappropriate touch, officials said on Monday.

Seven cases were registered against the warden under Section 506 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and other relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

The police said that the accused had joined as a warden a month ago and often approached students and forced them to watch pornographic videos on his phone.

According to the police, he sexually abused children who slept alone by touching them and forced himself into the bathrooms while they were bathing.

The children are being sent to a psychologist for counselling to help them cope with the mental and physical harassment faced by them, said the police.
