Latur hostel owner under fire for Assaulting Student in Viral Video

Police in Maharashtra's Latur city have registered a case against the owner of a private hostel for allegedly assaulting a student with a belt after the latter entered its premises.

A video of the incident, which occurred on April 28 in the hostel of a coaching class, has gone viral of social media.

The case was filed on Wednesday against the accused, Hanumant Jadhav, at the Shivajinagar police station.

According to sources, the accused confronted victim Soham Biradar, a student, when he visited the hostel. He attacked the student with a belt. When the victim tried to explain to him that he was looking for accommodation. However, the argument turned into a heated exchange, and Jadhav not only beat him but also forced him to apologise before two girls as seen in the video.

As the video sparked outrage, a police constable filed a complaint on May 14, based on which the case was registered.
