Mathura (UP), Aug 25 (PTI) A dramatic rescue unfolded in the Vrindavan area of Mathura when a 50-year-old man named Sundar, who initially intended to end his life, had a change of heart and called out for help after jumping into the Yamuna river. Bhura Singh, a passerby, heard his pleas and promptly alerted the authorities, leading to a swift response from the local police.
The incident took place on Saturday following a heated argument between Sundar and his family. In a fit of anger and despondency, he decided to jump into the river near his home, as confirmed by Vrindavan Police Station SHO Sanjay Pandey.
Once in the water, Sundar began to struggle, using rapid hand and leg movements in an attempt to stay afloat. He eventually managed to grab hold of a pillar of a bridge, desperately clinging to it while pleading for assistance.
Upon receiving the alert from Bhura Singh, the Police Response Vehicle (PRV) 7597 swiftly arrived at the scene. The river's current was strong, and Sundar's hold on the pillar was weakening. Displaying quick thinking and bravery, Constable Vishal Tomar and driver Naresh Kumar entered the turbulent waters with the aid of a rope, successfully rescuing Sundar.
Once back on solid ground, Sundar expressed his deep gratitude to the police for saving him. Exhausted from his ordeal, he confessed that he was on the brink of letting go when help arrived.
