India's weather department issued a stark warning about worsening heatwaves in the years and decades to come.

A report by Meteorological Department, released on April 25, 2023, said that most parts of India will see an increase in the duration of heatwaves by 12-18 days by the year 2060.

IMD's recommendations to counter this problem include improving ventilation and insulation in buildings, spreading awareness about heat stress, changing work schedules, having early warning systems, and creating cool shelters.
