The Haryana government successfully implemented the Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana, a scheme aimed at securing the bright future of daughters in the state. Designed under the Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao campaign, this savings plan caters exclusively to girls, providing a financial backbone for their future education, higher studies, and marriage expenses. Initiated by the parents or legal guardians in the name of girls below the age of 10, the scheme, with an initial deposit as low as Rs 250, can accumulate up to Rs 1.5 lakh.

A government spokesperson explained that the primary objective of this plan is to safeguard the future of the country's daughters. The account can be opened at any nearby post office or authorized bank, with a sole focus on benefiting girls. The maximum entry age for girls is 10 years, and an annual investment ranging from Rs 1,000 to Rs 1,50,000 can be made, with a maturity period of 15 years. The current interest rate for this scheme is 7.60%.

The spokesperson further revealed that when the girl turns 18, 50% of the accumulated amount can be withdrawn for her higher education. Additionally, the account can be transferred to another location, providing flexibility. Upon reaching adulthood, if the girl wishes to manage the account independently, the provision is duly available.

Highlighting the economic relief offered to parents and the substantial support extended for girls' education and marriage, the spokesperson emphasized that the Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana stands as an effective and beneficial initiative for ensuring a prosperous future for girls. Parents are encouraged to leverage the scheme, alleviating financial burdens while securing avenues for higher education and marriage for their daughters.
