In view of the ongoing extreme weather conditions, the Animal Husbandry Department has issued an advisory for all districts in the state to protect animals from the cold wave. In addition, the department has also directed the veterinary doctor to remain on alert.

Sharing information in this regard an official spokesperson stated that all livestock owners have been urged to follow the advisory issued by the Animal Husbandry Department to protect animals from the cold wave and keep their livestock safe from the cold wave.

The spokesperson said that during winters, animals experience decreased temperature, and difficulty in breathing, and symptoms of pneumonia can be seen, which also leads to a decrease in milk production as well. Protecting weak and newborn animals requires a proper diet, jaggery, and mineral mixture.

The spokesperson said that to take care of your livestock following actions could be taken: keep them out on a sunny day only, use only lukewarm/warm water for their bath, make sure the place where animals sit is dry and warm, keep them covered and if any symptoms of cold are seen contact the veterinary doctor immediately.
