H3N2: India reports first deaths from the influenza virus

Two people have died of flu caused by the H3N2 virus, government officials said. One person has died in Haryana and the other in Karnataka. These are the first reported deaths from the virus in India.  

An 82-year-old man from Karnataka is reportedly the first to die of H3N2. According to officials, the man was admitted to the hospital on February 24 and died on March 1. He was reportedly a diabetic and suffered from hypertension.

Around 90 cases of the H3N2 virus have been reported in the country so far.
