Flood Alert as Water Levels Rise in Godavari River

Dowleswaram, Andhra Pradesh: On Thursday morning, the Sir Arthur Cotton Barrage at Dowleswaram in East Godavari district witnessed an inflow of over 10 lakh cusecs of water, as confirmed by an official. Prakhar Jain, Managing Director of the Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (APSDMA), highlighted the rising water levels of the Godavari River. "The flood intensity is increasing in the Godavari. At Dowleswaram's Sir Arthur Cotton Barrage, both inflow and outflow reached 10.03 lakh cusecs," stated Jain in an official press release. The first-level flood warning has been issued, and districts such as Alluri Sitaramaraju, East Godavari, Dr BR Ambedkar Konaseema, Kakinada, Eluru, and West Godavari have been alerted. According to Jain, the Godavari River's water level at Bhadrachalam in Telangana rose to 50.08 ft. He urged residents along the banks of the Godavari River to remain vigilant.
