Panaji, Jun 20 (PTI) In recent developments, Goa BJP president Damodar Naik emphasized the party's zero-tolerance policy towards indiscipline, following the removal of Goa minister Govind Gaude from the cabinet. Gaude was dismissed on Wednesday after his controversial remarks regarding non-performance and corruption within the tribal welfare department, overseen by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant.

Naik, speaking to PTI, commented, "No one can claim 'aham brahmasmi' once they become a minister. One must first recognize their role as a party MLA before that of a minister.

Ensuring party discipline remains non-negotiable, he stressed. "Noticeably, our meetings now commence on schedule, and punctuality is expected from all speakers," said Naik, who assumed leadership of the state unit in January. The enforcement of discipline extends to those making public statements that go against the party or government.

Naik acknowledged that mistakes can happen but urged individuals with grievances to utilize appropriate platforms. The party is adamant about not tolerating any form of indiscipline. He advised cabinet ministers to address their concerns directly with the chief minister rather than through the media.

Highlighting the influx of individuals from varying political backgrounds into the BJP, Naik remarked that they need to adopt the party's ideology, leaving previous affiliations behind. He noted that a cabinet reshuffle is likely, with the chief minister responsible for decision-making. Naik also mentioned his initiative of evaluating ministers’ performance every three months and forwarding the findings to the party leadership in Delhi.
