Ghaziabad (UP), Aug 21 (PTI) – In a distressing case from Ghaziabad, a woman has lodged a police complaint against her husband and in-laws, accusing them of dowry-related harassment and mental torture. She alleged that her husband, a physical education teacher, expected her to maintain a physique similar to Bollywood actor Nora Fatehi. The pressure to conform to these standards added to her ordeal.

The complainant, who married just six months ago, further accused her in-laws of coercing her into taking an abortion pill, resulting in a miscarriage. She revealed in her complaint that despite her family spending over Rs 76 lakh on their wedding, she was continuously "body-shamed" by her husband, who allegedly criticized her as "fat and ugly".

The woman reported that her husband and in-laws demanded she exercise for three hours a day, and if she failed to do so, they withheld food as punishment. She also reported instances of physical assault by her husband.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Saloni Agarwal confirmed the filing of the complaint at the women's police station. "The complainant claimed harassment from her husband and in-laws in numerous ways," she informed PTI Videos on Thursday.

According to the officer, "The woman stated her husband's unreasonable expectations, allegedly forcing her into workouts and denying timely meals from her in-laws. An FIR has been registered based on the complaint, with further investigations ongoing. The complainant alleged that her husband often compared her to Nora Fatehi, pressuring her to attain a similar body."

Additionally, the woman accused her husband of womanizing and reportedly watching "inappropriate videos of women on the internet" as part of a larger pattern of misconduct. –
