Gang pulls off tomato heist in Bengaluru amid rising prices

A gang of three allegedly hijacked and fled with a truck laden with tomatoes after an incident of road rage near Bengaluru according to police.

The police have registered a case and efforts are on to nab the culprits.

Farmer Mallesh from Hiriyur in Chitradurga district, was transporting a load of tomatoes to Kolar on July 8 and the truck accidentally bumped into the car in which the accused were travelling. The mirror of the car suffered damage in the accident. 

The accused demanded a huge compensation from the farmer and the truck driver. When the duo said they don't have the money the accused then allegedly took control of the truck forcefully and started driving it.

The gang ultimately pushed the farmer and the driver out of the truck and sped away with tomatoes totalling about 2.5 tonnes, worth between Rs 2.5 to 3 lakh.
