Kozhikode, Kerala, Jun 30 (PTI) Five individuals were detained after their vehicle mistakenly entered the convoy of Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, police reported on Monday.

The incident took place around 10:15 PM on Sunday near Elathur, as the Chief Minister was en route to the government guest house.

Police confiscated a walkie-talkie from the vehicle, which was notably missing a number plate.

Despite being signaled three times to keep a distance, the pickup van breached the high-security convoy.

Authorities intercepted the vehicle at West Hill Chungam and took all five occupants into custody.

Upon interrogation, the group claimed they were electricians commuting from Kannur to Palakkad.

Police revealed that four of the men hail from Malappuram district, while one is from Palakkad, noting that none of them possess a prior criminal record.

The individuals were eventually released on station bail.
