Amid a chill in ties with Pakistan, the Indian government has chosen a woman to head the High Commission in Islamabad for the first time since Independence.

Geetika Srivastava will replace M Suresh Kumar as the Charge d'Affaires is Islamabad. She is a 2005-batch Indian Foreign Service officer.

Due to a downgrading of diplomatic relations, both India and Pakistan are being represented by CDAs in Delhi and Islamabad, instead of High Commissioners.
