Hyderabad, Jun 30: A tragic incident occurred at Sigachi Industries' plant located in the Pashamylaram industrial estate, where a blast and subsequent fire have led to the deaths of at least 12 individuals, leaving 35 others injured.
A Ranga Rao, Tahasildar of Patancheru, has reported that out of the deceased, only three bodies have been identified so far. Six were so severely charred that DNA profiling will be required to determine their identities. Three more bodies are still trapped under the debris.
Officials suspect that a blast in the plant's drying unit triggered the accident. The Telangana State Disaster Response and Fire Services, led by Director General Y Nagi Reddy, continues the debris removal process in search of any remaining trapped individuals within the collapsed three-storey building.
According to Reddy, industrial experts believe that pressure may have accumulated during the drying or handling process, leading to the explosion of the material. This, in turn, caused the blast that severely damaged the unit and the building.
Telangana Minister Damodara Raja Narasimha confirmed that 12 people have died, and 34 are currently receiving treatment. The authorities are working diligently to uncover further details.
