Protesting farmers clashed with the Haryana police in Hisar district on February 23, leaving many injured. According to the Tribune newspaper, the scuffle ensued after cops started snatching the keys of tractors.
These farmers were reportedly sitting a dharna at Khedi Chopta in support of those protesting on the Punjab-Haryana border.
Indian Express newspaper reported that they had plans to move towards Punjab's Khanauri border in support of the larger agitation. But they were stopped by the police, resulting in a confrontation.
The clash reportedly lasted for about two hours before it was dispersed using teargas shells and water cannons.
According to the Tribune, many farmer leaders have been detained.
