Chennai, July 3 (PTI) An individual involved in a notorious fake visa scam, who had been evading law enforcement for nearly eight years, has finally been apprehended, police announced on Thursday.

The case revolves around Sundar, one of the key accused in the fraudulent visa operation. Following his disappearance, a trial court had issued a warrant for his arrest on September 20, 2017.

The fraudulent scheme entangled 29 victims, who were deceived by false promises of job visas, resulting in collective losses amounting to Rs 18 lakh, officials stated.

Victims were given counterfeit visas in exchange for their payments. The case, originally filed in 2006, remains in the judicial process.
