Kolkata: In a significant development for Eastern Railway (ER) commuters, two new air-conditioned local train services were launched on Friday. These services will run between Sealdah-Bongaon-Ranaghat and Sealdah-Krishnanagar, improving travel comfort and efficiency on these busy routes.
The inaugural commercial runs kicked off from Sealdah, according to an ER official. This launch follows the introduction of ER's first AC suburban EMU train service, which commenced on August 10 on the Sealdah-Ranaghat route.
The newly introduced AC EMU train services are set to enhance the commuting experience, providing a premium and comfortable option for passengers traveling to suburban areas from Sealdah.
Operating six days a week, these services will not be available on Sundays. The Ranaghat-Bongaon-Sealdah AC local train is particularly advantageous for air travelers, as it stops at Dum Dum Cantonment station, conveniently located near the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport.
The Sealdah-Krishnanagar AC EMU service, on the other hand, is expected to benefit tourists traveling to or from the ISKCON temple town of Mayapur.
