The presence of ex-party leader Kapil Sibal at the meeting of the opposition's INDIA alliance reportedly did not go down well with the Congress.

According to multiple news reports, Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal raised the issue with Uddhav Thackeray, whose party Shiv Sena (UBT) is hosting the meeting.

As per reports, Samajwadi Party's Akhilesh Yadav and National Conference's Farooq Abdullah tried to intervene and convince Venugopal to accept Kapil Sibal's presence at the event.

Kapil Sibal is currently an independent Rajya Sabha MP after he quit Congress in 2022.

Rahul Gandhi reportedly had no objection to the former Congressman's presence.

Kapil Sibal was also made a part of the photo op but stood at the extreme end.
