Union Health Minister JP Nadda was named as the leader of the Rajya Sabha on 24th of June. He is replacing Piyush Goyal who won the Lok Sabha polls from the Mumbai North constituency.

Rajya Sabha's upcoming session is scheduled to begin on June 27.

Nadda's appointment comes amidst speculations that he may step down as the president of the BJP, which he took over from Amit Shah in 2020.

JP Nadda was among the 41 candidates who were elected unopposed to the upper house in February earlier this year.
