New Delhi, Aug 11 (PTI) In a tragic incident, a young boy named Ankit drowned in a swimming pool in the Shalimar Bagh area of northwest Delhi, as reported by the police on Monday.
The unfortunate accident took place on Sunday afternoon when Ankit went swimming with his friends in a pool run by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD).
Upon receiving the distress call, officers from the Shalimar Bagh police station promptly arrived at the scene. The boy was retrieved from the pool and rushed to a nearby hospital, where medical professionals declared him brought dead.
The authorities have sent Ankit's body for a post-mortem examination. Senior police officials are in the process of recording the statements from Ankit's friends and the staff present at the pool to ascertain whether the drowning was accidental or if there is any suspicion of foul play.
