New Delhi, May 26 (PTI) - A troubling incident in central Delhi's Patel Nagar area has come to light, where a man was arrested for allegedly beating a dog to death with a stick in broad daylight, according to an official statement from the Delhi Police.

"We reviewed CCTV footage that confirmed the incident, leading to the apprehension of the suspect for further questioning. The individual was subsequently arrested after confessing to the crime," an official from the police department stated.

Authorities reported that the alleged crime took place around 1:30 pm on May 6. Following the incident, a case was registered against the accused under pertinent sections of the BNS and the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (PCA) Act, following a complaint lodged by PETA.

In a statement, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) remarked, "Individuals who exploit animals often progress to causing harm to humans. It is crucial for the safety of everyone that acts of animal cruelty like this are reported to law enforcement by the public."
