Around two-and-a-half years after India began vaccinations against Covid-19, reports have emerged that there has been a major data leak from the CoWIN portal.

Trinamool Congress leader Saket Gokhale on June 12, 2023, claimed that the personal details of all vaccinated Indians were "freely available" online.

He tweeted screenshots of a bot on messaging platform Telegram sharing information of politicians like P Chidambaram, Derek O'Brien, Sushmita Dev, and even the deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha Harivansh.

Gokhale asked whether the Modi government was aware about the data breach, and if it was, then why people were not notified about it. He also called Minister of Electronics and IT Ashwini Vaishnaw "incompetent".
