Contempt proceedings sought in Supreme Court against SEBI over delayed Adani-Hindenburg inquiry: report

An application has been filed in the Supreme Court seeking the initiation of contempt proceedings against SEBI for not completing its investigation into the Adani-Hindenburg matter in the time frame fixed by the Court.

In his plea, Advocate Vishal Tiwari, one of the petitioners who filed PIL seeking a Court-monitored probe on the issue, pointed out that SEBI was supposed to submit its report by August 14 but the market regulator has not yet submitted its final report.

Tiwari has sought the direction of contempt proceedings against the SEBI for not complying with the order dated May 17, Livelaw reported on 19 November 2023
