A new chapter of BJP vs Congress has been added to the controversy around Rahul Gandhi's disqualification as a Lok Sabha MP after Germany spoke on the matter.

In response to Germany saying it expects democratic principles to be applied in the case, Congress leader Digvijaya Singh thanked the German envoy for 'taking note of how the democracy is being compromised in India through the persecution of Rahul Gandhi.'

Singh's tweet drew a taunt from Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju who 'thanked' Rahul Gandhi for 'inviting foreign powers to interfere in India's internal matters.

'Indian Judiciary can't be influenced by foreign interference. India won't tolerate 'foreign influence' anymore because our Prime Minister is Shri Narendra Modi Ji,' the minister added.
