Addressing BJP workers at a 'Karyakarta Mahakumbh' event in poll-bound Madhya Pradesh's Bhopal on September 25, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam' or the women's reservation bill created history in the country.

Modi said that Congress supported the bill in the Parliament half-heartedly and reluctantly.

He said that the Opposition parties didn't have the courage to oppose the bill as Indian women have become empowered in the last nine years.

"'Nari Shati Vandan Adhiniyam' (women's reservation bill) created a new history in the country. Women of the country waited for several decades, and it was also said that it might never be done. But there is a guarantee for every guarantee getting fulfilled when there is Modi. However, I want to caution the women of India, the Congress and its new 'ghamandiya' alliance supported this Bill half-heartedly and reluctantly," said PM Modi.

"In the last nine years, the way Indian women have become empowered, these parties (opposition) didn't have the courage to oppose the women's reservation bill," added Modi.
