India got a new Parliament on Sunday but Congress and BJP continued their age-old fight over Jawaharlal Nehru.
The Congress posted a photograph of a miniature image of Prime Minister Narendra Modi standing next to a larger-than-life image of Nehru and looking up to him. The text with the post read - 'No matter how hard you try'.
The BJP in reply tweaked the photograph into two parts - 'Reel' and 'Real'. While the 'Reel' portion showed the larger-than-life image of Nehru used by Congress, in the 'Real' section, BJP used a miniature image of the country's first PM next to a camera, hinting that his stature in real life is not large as Congress portrays. The text with the post read - 'Truth of Nehru'.
The two parties have been involved in a war of words ever since the BJP accused the Congress of reducing 'Sengol', a symbol of power and justice, to Nehru's walking stick.
The golden sceptre was gifted to Nehru in 1947 as a symbol of the transfer of power to India from the British.
