Child's hand gets stuck in a Howrah mall's escalator, rescued after 1.5 hours

In a heart-wrenching incident, a three-year-old child's hand got stuck in an escalator of a shopping mall in Howrah. On July 12 Mohammad Shahid’s hand got stuck in the gap of the moving stairs while playing with balloons.

While rescuing the child, the police evicted all the shoppers from the mall. After about one and a half hours, with the combined efforts of mall authorities, police and fire brigade, all the parts of the escalator were opened and the child was rescued. The child received minor injuries.
