Lucknow, Jun 2 (PTI) Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party chief Om Prakash Rajbhar announced on Monday that his party will be celebrating 'Vijay Diwas' on June 10 to commemorate Maharaja Suheldev's victory over invaders. Rajbhar praised Suheldev's valor and accused the Congress and Samajwadi Party (SP) of erasing the king's legacy from history.

In a press conference held in Lucknow, Rajbhar emphasized, "Years ago, Maharaja Suheldev Rajbhar defended Indian culture and identity by defeating the invading forces of Salar Masud Ghazi. Masud Ghazi, a commander under Mahmud of Ghazni, had entered India with a massive three lakh-strong army, bringing widespread looting and destruction.

Rajbhar described the victory as not just a military triumph but a testament to India's spiritual and cultural defense. He announced a grand celebration on June 10 in Bahraich, the site of the decisive battle.

"Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath ji will also attend the event. A 'Shaurya Mela' (fair of valour) will be organized, open to participation from all communities. It will serve as an occasion to relive and preserve our proud cultural heritage," Rajbhar stated.

He questioned the intentions of political parties that allegedly ignored Maharaja Suheldev's legacy. Rajbhar asked, "Did the Samajwadi Party and Congress, for vote bank politics, attempt to erase the legacy of a national hero like Maharaja Suheldev Rajbhar? Why was his story excluded from textbooks? Why did the Samajwadi Party organize events in memory of invader Salar Masud Ghazi in Bahraich but never honored Suheldev’s bravery on the same land?"

Maharaja Suheldev was a king of Shravasti, historically known for defeating and killing the Ghaznavid general Ghazi Miyan in Bahraich in 1034. Rajbhar accused the Congress and SP of concealing the contributions and valor of great historical figures.

"Throughout history, there has always been conflict with the Mughals," he said. "For seeking votes from their 'vanshaj' (descendants), SP and Congress engaged in political theatrics," Rajbhar added.

He credited his party, SBSP, with advocating for the installation of Suheldev’s statue, establishing a university in his name, incorporating his story into educational curricula, issuing commemorative stamps, and building memorials. “I thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Adityanath for acknowledging Maharaja Suheldev’s contributions. His grand statue has been erected in Bahraich, a memorial park has been built near Chittaura Lake (Bahraich), and a university has been established in Azamgarh in his honor. A postage stamp has also been issued to mark his legacy,” Rajbhar noted.

He remarked that Maharaja Suheldev was not only a hero of the Rajbhar community but a protector of the Indian nation and its values. Criticizing the Congress further, Rajbhar accused the party of always working against the country and claimed, "Its leader Rahul Gandhi used to put the country in the dock during his trips abroad."
