Buxar Tragedy: Alleged Pesticide Poisoning Claims Three Lives
Buxar, Nov 12 (PTI): In a heartbreaking incident in Buxar district of Bihar, three members of a family, including two young children, lost their lives after allegedly consuming pesticides.
According to police reports on Wednesday, a one-year-old boy, also allegedly given pesticides, was initially admitted to Buxar Sadar Hospital.
Due to his worsening condition, he was referred to Patna for more advanced medical treatment, a senior police officer has stated.
The tragedy unfolded after a reported altercation between 30-year-old Sabita Devi and her husband at their home in Purab Tola locality, under the jurisdiction of Naya Bhojpur police station.
Devi allegedly consumed pesticides herself and reportedly administered them to her three children: seven-year-old Jyoti, five-year-old Akash, and one-year-old Vikash.
Three of them succumbed, while one child is currently fighting for his life, confirmed the police officer.
An investigation into the case has been launched, with a police team dispatched to Buxar Sadar Hospital to conduct inquiries.
An official from Buxar Sadar Hospital mentioned that the victims showed signs of pesticide ingestion, and three of them were declared dead upon arrival at the hospital.
Sunil Kumar, Sabita's husband and a mason by trade, revealed to reporters that Sabita was his third wife.
When Sabita and the children's health began deteriorating on Tuesday evening, family members rushed them to a nearby hospital.
Subsequently, they were transferred to the Sadar Hospital, where the doctors confirmed the deaths of Sabita, Jyoti, and Akash upon arrival, the police officer added.
