Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, July 3 (PTI): A building owned by the local civic authority, housing several shops, has collapsed in Kannad town of Maharashtra’s Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district this past Thursday, according to police reports.

No casualties were reported, the police confirmed.

Constructed several years ago, the row of shops in this civic body-owned structure in Kannad Nagar Parishad gave way, collapsing at around 3 PM, according to an official statement.

Kannad town is situated approximately 60 km from the city of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.

“The building was quite old, and the row of shops collapsed. Fortunately, there was no loss of life,” stated an official from the Kannad city police station in conversation with PTI.

Efforts are currently underway to clear the debris, noted another official.
