As part of the interim budget, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced a cervical cancer vaccination drive targeting teen girls.

The human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination will be free for girls between 9 and 14 years of age for a period of 3 years.

Reports suggest the government is stocking up 7 crore doses ahead of the campaign.

Cervical cancer is the second most common cancer among women in India, and fourth most common in the world.
