Bihar: truck carrying illegal sand mows police officer, probe underway

A truck carrying illegal sand in Bihar allegedly ran over a police officer, who was later declared dead. The officer was rushed to a nearby hospital, where another officer was admitted in critical condition after being injured in the same incident.

Police reached the spot and launched an investigation into the hit-and-run case, which happened near Mahulia Tand village in Bihar's Jamui district.

The officer who died was identified as Inspector Prabhat Ranjan, a resident of Siwan. The injured officer’s name is Rajesh Kumar, who has been admitted to a private clinic.

“Garhi police station in-charge mowed down allegedly by a tractor carrying sand illegally, one Home Guard also injured in the incident in Mahulia Tand village of Jamui district,” police said in a statement, as per NDTV.
