Bihar hooch tragedy: Death toll rises to 71 in Chhapra, 8 more deaths reported from two other districts

Death toll in the Chhapra hooch tragedy in Bihar's Saran district has increased to 71 .

The incident was initially reported on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, eight more deaths were reported from Bihar on Saturday.

According to officials, Six people died in Siwan district and two deaths were reported from Begusarai by drinking illicitly brewed country liquor.

The sale and consumption of alcohol were banned in Bihar by the Nitish Kumar government in April 2016 but the state continues to witness liquor sales on the black market.
